Brown Sugar Crusted Grapefruit

Click to Print This Page (top banner and side navigation will not print)

Serves 2
5 minutes preparation time
5 minutes cooking time

1 whole grapefruit
approximately 2 teaspoons brown sugar

Move an oven rack to the highest slot and preheat the oven to broil.

Cut the grapefruit in half through its equator.  With a grapefruit knife, separate the individual sections and remove any seeds.  Sprinkle about a teaspoon of brown sugar over each half.

Place the grapefruit halves on a cookie sheet and place them under the broiler until the grapefruit and sugar are lightly browned, about 5 minutes.  Cool slightly before eating.  For a last dash of sweetness, when you have finished eating the sections, squeeze all of the juice out of the grapefruit into your bowl and drink it right out of the bowl.
