We had a lovely, long Thanksgiving weekend. The eating and socializing were delightful, and I always love making our lists of things for which we are grateful. I shared some of those here last week, but I love seeing the children's lists, too.
It was also great to have that Thursday off break up the week and then a weekend right on its heels. We were lucky enough to get out for a couple of long walks in the woods. I was reminded again how well the children respond to that time outside. Sometimes it seems like so much effort gathering hats, mittens, water bottles, etc. Most challenging is overcoming inertia to get out of the house on a cold, windy day. Seeing the children out in the woods, positively giddy, reminded me that it is worth the effort. None of us was as happy as the dog, though, who loved his chance to run off leash and even get in a swim.
I saw a news item about the results of a study asking kids what they were grateful for at Thanksgiving and just about all the children talked about (often with pictures) their families - parents, grandparents, siblings. It was great to see that in the midst of the news about retail sale, Korea, etc.
