As I have written here and here, I was very disappointed when Conde Nast decided to shut down Gourmet. They are sending me Bon Appetit to complete my subscription, but it just doesn't inspire me the way Gourmet did.
Apparently I'm not the only one. The New York Times recently ran an article titled, Fans of Gourmet Accept No Stand Ins, making the case that the vast majority of Gourmet's 900,000 subscribers have not been picked up by Bon Appetit or other publications.
So I ask you, fellow foodies, do you read any food magazines that inspire you? If so, I'd love to know what they are. I could really use something to fill in the Gourmet gap!
Um, this blog?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I like reading the 'Rachel Ray' mag, it is no 'Gourmet', but it has some simple and easy recipes.
However, I find no magazine is good for vegetarians- I do love the books by Sarah Kramer and Tanya Barnard for vegan/vegetarian recipes that I find very inspiring.
In truth, I now get most of my recipes from your blog- thank you for being my 'Gourmet' magazine!

My daughter and I read Fine Cooking and we absolutely love it!

We like Food and Wine, and I have about 40 blogs bookmarked. We also get Bon Appetit to replace our Gourmet subscription. There have been some issues of Bon Appetit where I have wanted to make everything and others where nothing appeals to me.

Carey and Livy, you made my day!! Thank you so much. I'm going to head to the bookstore and see if I can get some of your suggestions there before I subscribe. And, Livy, I think Rachel Ray gets a bad rap. She has always been very up front about who she is -- a nonprofessional who loves to cook and has a few tips to share with the rest of us.
