So here we are in the depths of winter, under tons of snow. It has been the snowiest winter in this area's recorded history, I understand. We found ourselves at Sears this past weekend to replace the dishwasher, the latest applicance to succumb to the curse that I seem to have with electronics of all sorts. The children love playing on the riding mowers so I took them there to keep them occupied while Gabe closed the deal. I tried to imagine having a lawn to mow and it was beyond my capabilities. The sight of green ground and the smell of freshly mowed lawn seem so far away.
You would think that with all of the snow days that we have had, I would have written and posted several recipes. But instead, I got sidetracked. Outside, there was lots of sledding, rolling down hills, building tunnels and forts, gathering and licking icicles, flying off the swing into deep snow, and wintry walks with Buddy. Inside, we played games, read books, watched movies, cooked, ate, made valentines, and then started that all over again. And we attended many neighborhood parties, enjoying sharing the impromptu winter break with friends. But writing? Not so much.
Today the children go back to school and I return to work after our 10-day hiatus, and I think we all will be happy to get into a routine again. I'm hoping to spend more time in this space because even though I haven't been writing, I have been cooking. And photographing. I have lots to share, starting with these pictures of the snow.
Thanks for the snow photos. I knew they would be wonderful and they were

Thanks so much for sharing your photos! I love the way the snow drifts and the lone tree make an ominous face, reflecting the way so many feel about the snow now. I've loved the snow and see you and your family had as much time playing in the snow as we did!
