Everyone is getting into the act at home now. The children have been amazingly patient as I photograph them helping in the kitchen or take pictures of their food before they eat it. And I repeatedly hear, "maybe you should put this on the blog." It has been fun for all of us. So this is the first post in what I hope will be a series of recipes developed or inspired by my children's ideas: out of the mouths of babes we often learn so much, don't we?
Olivia generated this recipe for one of her favorite snacks, and she wants to share with you. This is a very simple snack, but the creaminess of the butter mixed with the saltiness and crunch of the saltines make it addictive. And even when our cupboard is bare, we usually have butter and crackers on hand for this quick treat.
In case you can't make out the instructions from the photo above, here, in her own words, is Olivia's recipe.
Butter Crackers
Delicious!
Makes so many!
Made by Olivia
What you'll need: A knife, a pack of saltines, butter, a plate
What to do:
Microwave the butter for about 10 seconds.
Take about 10 (or more or less) crackers and put them on a plate.
Take a knife and butter the crackers. Tada!
!!!!!You can eat them now!!!!!
Thanks, Olivia. Kate and I enjoyed your snack this afternoon. Carrie

My grandma served this to my mom as a child for a snack, and then her to me, and well..you know the cycle. One of my favorites. YUM. So fun to see it here--I thought we were the only ones! ;)
