Eight years ago today I was an office party at my friend Patti's house when I started having contractions. After Patti's son timed my quickening contractions, I went home and they promptly stopped. I planted some flowers, we had dinner with friends, they started up again, and we called the grandparents in to watch Olivia and Oscar.
A few hours later, we met Chloe for the first time. When the nurse bathed her, she grabbed on to the side of the plastic basinette and didn't let go. The nurse said she had never seen anything like it. Eight years later, Chloe is still grabbing on to life, living every day to the fullest.
Happy, happy birthday to my sweet, cheerful, loving, funny, and perfectly mischievous Chloe!
