The renovation process is beoming a hazy blur and we are settled in and making the most of our space. I am loving it all, from the baking area to the huge window over the sink, to the fancy-schmancy stove. The cookbook shelf, the pantry, and over and over again, that beautiful island all make me smile at least ten times a day.

One surprise has been the open space at the end of the room. We had planned to put some comfortable chairs and a table there, but we didn't get around to it immediately. And now that area has taken on a life of its own.
It has been amazing to have all that space during parties, of course. People tend to gather in the kitchen, and now we can pack them in. Yes!
But I am also discovering that unstructured space is like unstructured time: it allows for a bit of creativity. Most frequently, that area has become a dance floor and, most recently it has also been used as a jump rope arena. At some point, we may furnish it, but for now it will remain an open canvas.
